GENEALOGY:

It is not my purpose to provide provide a comprehensive genealogy of the Smith-Hazen family nor to reproduce census images, vital records or other information which is generally available on Ancestry.com, AmericanAncestors.org (NEHGS), or various published family genealogies and local histories.

However, I am including, for sake of discussion, Ahnentafel reports for both Henry and Sarah.  Also included is the Ancestry and Descendants of Henry Bagg Smith (which was probably published by his sons at the Newtown Bee), my attempts at transcriptions of the Revolutionary War Pension  applications of Henry’s grandfathers, Simon Smith and Oliver Bagg.  At some point I hope to all add the application of Ann (Sexton) Pease (wife of Robert Pease) and maternal grandmother of Mary Ann Wood, Sarah’s mother.

Also included is an excerpt from the records of Tunbridge VT.   Alexander Stedman was clerk of Tunbridge and was good enough to include in the records his own family records which show his marriage to Sarah Cushman, the birth of his daughter Sarah and her marriage to Fredrick Hazen.  It is through Sarah Cushman that our Sarah S Hazen is descended from Mayflower passengers Isaac and Mary Allerton, Frances Eaton and Degory Priest.  She is also descended from MP Francis Cooke.
